About

Racecourse Farm is set on the outskirts of the village of Portbury, which sits in the Gordano Valley in Somerset just 15 minutes from Bristol City centre. It was named after an ancient Horse Racing track over land nearby.

Built in 1850 as a model farm and part of The Smyth Estate it housed tenant farmers who grew arable crops and kept pigs sheep and a milking herd, from the 1980’s it became a racing yard for both National Hunt and Flat Race Horses until the 1990’s when it was sold to the present owners Rod and Jane Billing.
